A Research Guide for MSN 600 - Theoretical Foundations of Nursing Practice
A guide to accompany the research components of MSN 600.
About This Guide
NKU librarians and nursing faculty created this guide to kick-start your research. You will also find recommended resources for information about nursing theory and theoreticians and research to support your PICOT questions.
The guide is made up of three sections:
- Searching PubMed for Literature for PICOT Questions will help you begin using PubMed to find research literature for your PICOT questions (below)
- Recommended Search Terms for Nursing Theory & Theorists will examine the value of preferred search terms, and provide a list of nursing theories, connected to searches within CINAHL
- Course Textbook & Books on Nursing Theory & Theorists is a list of ebook, and print books in the library's collections on nursing theory and theoreticians, including your textbook, Nursing Theories and Nursing Practice by Marlaine Smith; Marilyn E. Parker.
PubMed & PubMed Tutorials
- PubMed This link opens in a new windowPubMed contains Medline, and much more. PubMed has significant portions of the nursing literature, but its goal is to encompass the entirety of medical, and health science literature. Some full text will be available through PubMed Central, some will be within Steely's collections, and what remains can be requested free of charge through interlibrary loan.
